A Small Tribute To Paul Scholes

Paul Scholes belonged to the class of '92,alongside the likes of Ryan Giggs,David Beckham,Gary Neville and Nicky Butt.While playing for United he won the treble in '99.Throughout the years he has graced Old Trafford with his playmaking and goal-scoring abilities.He is renowned for his rocket-like shot,no nonsense tackling and his amazing passing ability.Although an extremely gifted player he remained an unaffected human being and remained largely out of the media.

Today when all seemed lost, Scholes came from nowhere in the 93rd minute with a fantastic header to fashion a winner for United.Even without his goal Ferguson declared him Man-Of-The-Match and indeed he was worthy of the accolade.Time and time again Scholes has shown that he is perfectly capable of stepping up to the plate on big occasions.To back up this claim,he performed this late goal feat against wolves recently,dancing into the box to slot one past keeper Hahnemann.Another example-this time on the biggest stage in world sport-is his superb finish against Barcelona in the Champions League Semi-Final.When United need him most,Paul Scholes answers spectacularly.

Many people claim that Scholes is reaching the final year or two at the top-flight.They would be right in this claim as we can see by looking at the young Scholes.His box-to-box work ethic was brilliant,his passing sublime,and his heart-stopping goals made him a favorite amongst the United faithful.As the years passed by he lost that ability to make continuous run's into the box and as a result his goal-scoring dried up.

However he settled into his new holding position rapidly his vision,awareness,passing and technique amalgamated to form a dangerous opponent.Despite not scoring as often his influence on games is undeniable,as demonstrated by his destruction of the Fulham defense.

He is now entering the twilight of his career and his retirement is drawing ever closer.Indeed when that faithful day comes,the footballing world will lose one of its greatest assets.Paul Scholes literally epitomizes all that is great about the Beautiful game truly playing the game the way it was meant to be played,as a team game he is eternally unselfish and a true role model to young players.When he retires players and fans alike will hail the legend that is Paul Scholes in fact players at present regard him as one of the games greatest players to grace a soccer pitch.

So I believe I speak for all United fans in thanking this player for 18 years of fantastic service and on the day of his testimonial he will walk off the pitch with his head held high to a chorus of "We Love You Scholsey"
