Ā Ā Ā Kansas State used superb defense to build a 13 point halftime lead en route to an easy 68-46 win over New Hampshire in a SMCAA Southwest 2nd round matchup of Wildcats.Ā Kansas State held UNH to only 18 points in the first half as New Hampshire shot only 33% for the game.Ā Jacob Pullen led KSU with 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting including three 3 pointers.Ā Dominique Sutton added 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Denis Clemente chipped in 10 points for the victors.
Ā Ā Ā New Hampshire got 14 points from Alvin Abreu, but he was the only Wildcat to reach double figures on the night.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #17 Morgan State 72, #16 Oregon 67
Ā Ā Ā Morgan State led by six at the half as was able to hold off Oregon 72-67 in a 2nd round Southwest contest.Ā The Bears led 32-26 at the break and Oregon got as close as three in the second half, but unable to take the lead.Ā Reggie Holmes led the way for Morgan State with 22 points including three 3 pointers.Ā Kevin Thompson was the only other Bear in double figures with 15 points.Ā He also had 12 rebounds in the contest.
Ā Ā Ā The Ducks had three players in double figures, led by LeKendric Longmire and his 12 points.Ā Malcolm Armstead and Michael Dunigan each added 10 points in the loss.Ā Armstead also had 7 assists for Oregon.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā SOUTHWEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #17 Morgan State vs. #1 Kansas State
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #24 Davidson 76, #9 Wofford 68
Ā Ā Ā Davidson had five players in double figures as they took control of the game in the second half and upset Wofford 76-68 in a Southwest 2nd round contest between Southern Conference foes.Ā Jake Cohen led the way for the Wildcats with 14 points, while Bryant Barr (13 points off the bench), J.P. Kuhlman (12 points), Will Archambault (12 points), and Brendan McKillop (11 points, 5 assists) all contributed in the win.
Ā Ā Ā The Terriers got 18 points and 8 rebounds from Noah Dahlman, but he was the only one in double figures for Wofford as they shot just 40% on the night.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #8 North Carolina 87, #25 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 59
Ā Ā Ā North Carolina rolled up 51 points in the first half, had a 27 point halftime lead, and crushed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 87-59 in a 2nd round Southwest blowout.Ā The Tar Heels shot 58% for the game and were led by Deon Thompson and his 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting in the game.Ā Ed Davis added 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks while Will Graves chipped in 10 points in the victory.Ā UNC dominated the glass as well, out reboundingĀ the Islanders 42-25 for the game.
Ā Ā Ā Texas A&M-Corpus Christi only had one player in double figures, Kevin Palmer, who played well with 23 points on 9 of 14 shooting.Ā TAMCC struggled from the beyond the arc, however, hitting on 27% on the night.
