2010 SMCAA TOURNAMENT – NORTHWEST REGION – SECOND ROUND

        #5 Oklahoma State 73, #37 Sacramento State 59

    Oklahoma State took control of a game that was tied at halftime and went on to a 73-59 win over Sacramento State in a SMCAA Northwest 2nd round matchup.  The Cowboys, who were tied at 35-35 at the half, used a 13-3 run to win the game.  James Anderson led the Cowboys with 27 points on the night, which included going 11 for 12 from the free throw line.  Obi Muonelo added 14 points while Marshall chipped in 11 points in the victory.
    The Hornets were led by Duro Bjegovic and his 15 points, including three 3 pointers.  John Dickson added 11 points in the loss.

        #21 Central Florida 75, #12 Charlotte 62

    Central Florida built a nine point halftime lead, shot 54% for the game, and went on to upset Charlotte, 75-62, in a Northwest region 2nd round game.  The Knights, who led 35-26 at the break, were led by Issac Sosa who had a game high 23 points on 9 for 12 shooting including five 3 pointers.  Taylor Young added 13 points for UCF, who shot 57% from 3 point range.
    The 49ers did get 17 points from Derrio Green, while DiJuan Harris (12 points) and Chris Braswell (10 points) were also in double figures for Charlotte.  But they struggled all night long, shooting only 36% from the field and 25% from 3 point range.

        NORTHWEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #21 Central Florida vs. #5 Oklahoma State

        #13 Morehead State 74, #20 Long Beach State 70 (OVERTIME)

    Morehead State rallied from an eight point deficit to force the game to overtime and took control in the extra session going on to defeat Long Beach State 74-70 in overtime in a 2nd round Northwest contest.  The Eagles, who trailed 50-42 with 9:30 remaining, got 15 points apiece Demonte Harper and Kenneth Faried.  Faried also had 12 rebounds in the ballgame.  Steve Peterson (11 points) and Maze Stallworth (10 points) were also in double figures for MSU, who won despite shooting only 48% from the free throw line (11-23).
    The 49ers got 16 points from Casper Ware to lead the way.  Stephan Gilling added 14 points while Greg Plater chipped in 11 points off the bench.  LBSU couldn’t get the shots to fall on this night, hitting just 39% from the field and 32% from 3 point range.

        #4 California 79, #36 Alabama State 57

    California had four players score in double figures and was never threatened as they rolled to a 79-57 win over Alabama State in a Northwest 2nd round blowout.  Patrick Christopher led the way for the Golden Bears with 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting on the night.  Jerome Randle (18 points, 6 assists), Jamal Boykin (11 points, 9 rebounds), and Theo Robertson (10 points, 6 assists) contributed in the win as well.  Cal played well all night as they shot 50% from the field and 74% from the free throw line.
    The Hornets got 15 points and 6 rebounds from Menji Mundadi and 10 points and 4 assists from Tramaine Butler, but they struggled from the field shooting only 38% on the night.
