Lewis Hamilton To Race In South Africa Next Week
Hamilton will fly to South Africa to race just one lap around the Kayalami race circuit in an attempt to beat the new Vodacom Metro E-Fibre.
The new Vodacom Metro E-Fiber can deliver speeds of upto 1Gbps (1000 Mega bytes of data per second) which is close to 65% the speed of light.
In order to test the connection speed, a race has been setup, the data will travel from Sandton(Johannesburg) to Midrand(Johannesburg). 5.6 Gb of data will be transferred, while Hamilton will work his way around the 4.2Km tracks.
Lewis will drive a Mercedes Benz C63 AMG, but whether he will drive the standard C63 or the Performance Plus Package with 358 kW and Composite Breaks is unconfirmed.
A properly driven C63 will slick tyres will get around the Kayalami track under two minutes.
Now Vodacom will race its new networkās data transporting capability against Hamiltonās. With Vodacom and Vodafone been South Africa partners, the match-up is sure to be an interesting one.Ā
Unfortunately no public will be allowed at the race track. The race is scheduled for the 20 April 2010.
