2010 SMCAA TOURNAMENT – NORTH REGION – FIRST ROUND

     #27 Ball State 63, #38 Fairleigh Dickinson 51

    Ball State got 15 points and 13 rebounds from Terrence Watson to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson 63-51 in a SMCAA 1st round North Region game.  The Cardinals also 14 points from Randy Davis as the closest than the Knights got in the 2nd half was 3 points. 
FDU got 14 points from Terence Grier but only shot 39% percent from the field and were out rebounded by 11.

NORTH REGION 2ND ROUND:  #27 Ball State vs. #6 Louisville

    #26 Loyola-Chicago 66, #39 Northwestern State 62

Loyola-Chicago scored the final 5 points over the game to turn a 1 point deficit into a 66-62 win over Northwestern State in a North 1st round game.  The Ramblers got a free throw from Courtney Stanley and back to back baskets from Marcus Thomas and Andy Polka (15 points, 11 rebounds) to win the game.  Terrance Hill led Loyola with 16 points.
The Demons were led William Mosley’s 13 points and 12 rebounds but were unable to hang on after two Shamar Davis free throws gave Northwestern State a 61-61 lead with 92 seconds left.

    NORTH REGION 2ND ROUND: #26 Loyola-Chicago vs. #7 Wake Forest

    #25 Eastern Michigan 66, #40 New Orleans 43

Eastern Michigan played great defense in the first half, holding New Orleans to 16 points, on the way to a 66-43 pasting of the Privateers in a 1st round North contest.  Brandon Bowdry led the Eagles with 17 points and 11 rebounds as they led by 11 at the break and were never threatened in the 2nd half.
UNO got 11 points from Carl Blair and 10 points and 8 rebounds from Charles Carmouche, but the Privateers shot only 30% from the field as a team.

    NORTH REGION 2ND ROUND: #25 Eastern Michigan vs. #8 Seton Hall

    #28 California-Davis 81, #37 American 73

UC-Davis used a key 13-4 second half run to erase a 6 point halftime deficit and defeat American 81-73 in a North 1st round game.  With the game tied at 51 all, Mark Payne scored 5 of his 17 points in the rally that decided the contest.  Joe Harden lead the Aggies with 19 points and Dominic Calegari added 16 in the win.
The Eagles were led by a superb performance from Vlad Moldoveanu who led all scorers with a game high 26 points and 9 rebounds.  Nick Hendra added 11 and Stephen Lumpkins added 10 for AU.
