24/7 Mayweather-Mosley Episode One Recap

The episode opens up with still black and white photos of Mayweather’s face and then transitions into Mosley's.  The narrator introduces both fighters and explains how their paths have never crossed until just now and it is not clear if it was due to circumstance or by choice.

Mayweather right away makes bold claims that he is doing Mosley a big favor for letting him share the ring with greatness. Mosley responds by saying he’s the greatest but at some point you gotta back that up.

Then we the viewers of 24/7 get a personal disclaimer from Mayweather himself who tells us face to face that we do not know him personally and that before we get too concerned with him we should take a look at ourselves because he is doing okay.

Then rapper Nas is playing in the background as Mayweather is driving around Vegas in his Escalade. We learn that everyone in the Mayweather camp has been together for several years except for Floyd’s dad who now is part of the camp. We get a close up of Floyd’s seven man bodyguard team all looking like they would fail the Olympic style drug testing that he is so passionate about. 

Mayweather states he made $30 million for the Marquez fight and considers him a great fighter even though he drinks his own urine and prefers the fight go the distance so he can get more rounds in.

We then cut to the post fight ring interview where Mosley and Hopkins call out Mayweather face to face. Mayweather calls them disrespectful bitches and complains to Al Haymon in the locker room right after. 

Mosley expresses how everyone is still talking about Mayweather vs Pacquiao as if he has no chance to win the fight and then he tells the camera he will win the fight.

We then cut to the Margarito vs Mosley fight where trainer Nazim felt he blew the fight for he thought after discovering the plaster substance that they were going to take Margarito away in handcuffs right then and there.

The next scene is the Face Off interview for HBO where Mosley reminds Mayweather that he told him he wishes to be just like him when he comes up the ranks.  Floyd responds in a later scene that he barely knows who the [sic] Mosley is and that everyone wants to be like Mayweather for he is the cash cow.

Floyd then goes on to dis Mosley some more about his green suit choice color that he wore at the LA press conference saying it’s not St. Patrick's Day and that he’s not money.

Mosley then speaks on how his past Balco steroid scandal in 2003 is a thing in the past where he was not sure what was going on and that they are trying to stress him out over the same issues in 2010.

Mayweather then brags that he is all god given talent without any PEDs as he begins to train and hit the heavy bag. USADA agents then enter into his gym and are ready to give him his random urine and blood tests. One USADA agent goes with him into the bathroom for him to fill his urine test. Mayweather is not able to fill the urine test for he is dehydrated. The blood test is not allowed to be administered until several hours later until his body has cooled down. So we see very out of placed USADA agents sitting on the couch of Mayweather’s mansion with his entourage watching TV until that time has arrived.

We then go to Big Bear where Mosley holds camp and we learn he’s become welcomed and accepted by the local community. He is even part of a bowling team out there for the last several years. 

Back in Vegas Mayweather is seen wearing a tuxedo and is attending his Mayweather Foundation Gala for the less fortunate families in the community.  There is a son and dad dance battle with Floyd Sr. busting out some vintage James Brown moves.

Then the classic REAL hip hop song Don’t Sweat the Technique comes on as Mosley hits what appears to be pool toy targets held by Nazim.  We are introduced to Team Mosley which includes his teenage amateur boxer son, a high school friend, and of course top trainer Nazim Richardson.

We learn that Nazim suffered a stroke years ago and lost all function of the left side of his body and had to undergo brain surgery. He gives full credit to his Islam faith for being where he is today.

Nazim then states that all these younger fighters including Floyd all look up to Shane whether they want to admit it or not.

Floyd then disses Shane for having a Gerry curl in the year 2010 and jokes that he must have woke up in the Hot Tub Time Machine.

Then of course the Rocky Theme song kicks in with Shane running through Big Bear and Mayweather dissing him one more time saying that Shane says I fight for money. He explains to us "Of course I fight for money I’m a prize fighter I fight for a prize." He used the word “[sic]” in there somewhere too to emphasize his point.

The episode ends with the narrator saying the most captivating line that captures all the audience by saying the fight is 21 days away.
