Saturday's Bundesliga Matches Short Previews: Week 30
Leverkusen vs Bayern Munchen
Bayer Leverkusen are desperately clinging onto third place although their recent slump could see the end of that they have gone from top of the league to being only one point ahead of fourth-place Dortmund. The displays they have shown in recent weeks would certainly make it seem unlikely that they have any chance of beating Bayern Munich.
Munich on the other hand have been on fire in recent weeks, they’ve come from behind to progress to the next round of the Champions League after going 3-0 down to Manchester United. And they beat second place Schalke despite being down to 10 men for most of the match. They look more than likely to be going home with three points this Saturday.
Hannover vs Schalke
Hannover are pretty much goners this season and Schalke look more than likely to put another nail in the coffin of the Bundesliga strugglers. Although a goalless draw might not be seen as a positive result for many clubs Hannover’s 0-0 draw against Hamburger last week is certainly viewed that way.
It is more than likely the Hannover coach will try to use this to motivate his players, but all the motivation in the world isn’t likely to even the odds for Hannover, the match should almost certainly go Schalke’s way.
Mainz vs Dortmund
Dortmund coach spent 18 years at Mainz prior to coaching his current side and unlike many managerial moves there is no bad blood here and he is more than likely to be given an exceptional welcome when he and his side visit the club on Saturday.
Form wise it seems obvious that Dortmund should win, Mainz have lost their last three matches and each and every performance has been nothing short of abysmal. Although Dortmund don’t really have anything major left to play for this season this win could see them slip into the top three even if that is only for a short time.
