WWE: Bring Back the 80's
As I sit here anxiously awaiting to open my brand new Hart and Soul DVD that I bought; it makes me sad to think about the WWE product we have today. Are we ever going to see dominant tag teams? Will there ever be powerful gimmicks like Macho Man or Hulk? Will PPV's really be something special and not just an extended version of Raw?
The WWE product today is indeed weak. I am not an expert and nor do I hold my opinion is such high regard. But I can safely say that I speak for most everyone who watches it now.

We have lost focus on gimmicks that really grasps our attention. I feel that if the WWE just focused more on developing characters, we wouldn't feel the product to be, well, weak.
It makes me sad that there will never be another Survivor Series. How wicked was Survivor Series when we had such great tag teams participating like the Bulldogs, Demolition, Hart Foundation, Killer Bees etc? Why cant the WWE produce tag teams like these guys anymore? I know why...
DEVELOP their gimmicks. Make them wear the same outfits. Don't just have The Miz and The Big Show get together and be called a "tag team," make them do promos together and show us their camaraderie. Lets not forget people, from 1986-1994, WWE could be considered a PG product but it was COOL.
The WWE needs to push people with excellent mic skills. It baffles me that they aren't making more of Santino. He is the ultimate character right now. People WANT to watch him. With the right push, serious wrestling techniques and more polishing, I could equate Santino to the next Chris Jericho/Rock. I know that seems far fetched, but who else out there makes you want to listen to them?
Remember when Sunny was considered a Main Event? Why? Because she had charisma. The WWE needs to find that girl like Sunny or Stacy who can carry the Diva division and the product itself. A girl with that great of charisma or screen presence would be a great manager. But who am I kidding? The Divas have been reduced to 2 minute fillers for PPV's and shows.
Wait. Whatever happened to prolific managers? Ms. Elizabeth anyone? Or wait how about Mr. Fuji? Wait wait...Bobby the Brain. We need that heel who will talk for the wrestlers that can't. We need that manager who makes us feel that we are a part of his/her team. WHERE ARE THEY?
It made me happy tuning into Saturday Nights Main Event with their epic Battle Royals with all these different and unique gimmicks. Each one served a purpose in the ring and each one had a modus operandi. But now a days, you have the same guys chanting the same thing, with the same look on their face...."I'M AWESOME." "I'M THE ALL AMERICAN AMERICAN." So stupid.
WWE does not need to be TV 14 to be good but it needs to be character driven. There are just too many wrestlers out there, too many ppvs, too many belts and too much chaos. Make it simple and make it lovable.
God it makes me so mad that I sometimes forget who is the champion now a days. Does it even matter? Its not like the champion holds any regard for the fan. Gone are the days when Hulk Hogan was the champion huh? It means NOTHING anymore.
I could be wrong. But after all I do come from the time when Mr. Perfect was the greatest IC champion of all time. Who is it now?
Sorry for my rant. I blame it on the Hart and Soul DVD.
