Arsenal Need Depth In Experience To Make Final Push For Major Trophies!
Most Arsenal fans are probably saying to themselves, "It is deja-vu all over again." A club with so much promise for one reason or another fails to achieve success at the highest level. Some people in the media believe Arsenal can not take that step further because of the beautiful football they play. Barcelona, however, has shown that winning major trophies with the beautiful way is indeed possible. In fact, it is the most efficient and the most proper way to achieve success in world football. Brazil has proved it over the years with five World Cup triumphs.
The problem with Arsenal is the fact that they lack experience in a striking and defensive sense. Arsenal have one of the best attacking midfield in Europe with the likes of Fabregas, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin, and Ramsey, but they only have Robin Van Persie in the strike-force, who barely plays due to injury, and William Gallas in central defense who is in the twilight of his career. What Arsene Wenger needs to do this summer is to add more experienced stikers and more experienced defenders that will add steel in defense and a ruthless finishing in front of goal. He has sold Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Flamini, and Hleb, and has only brought one experienced player since in Arshavin. Yes, he added Vermaelen but this guy is 23 and is still learning his trade, though with time he will become one of the true great defenders at Arsenal.
Experience is needed to beat teams like Chelsea, Man. Utd, Barcelona, etc. It is no wonder that we have not won a single game against the big sides this season, except for Liverpool; a club in crisis. The bigĀ sides are the teams that you have to compete with for major trophies, and since these teams have loads of experience you need experience to beat them. For instance, look at what Sol Campbell has done since his return to the club. He has brought defensive solidity and experience in games he has played in, and is one of the main reason why Arsenal are in the hunt for the title; whether we win it or not remains up in the air.
The 4-3-3 formation has left us defensively vulnerable against the bigger sides, because Arsenal lack experienced players that know how the formation operates. Arsenal have beaten the smaller sides due to the formation but can not beat the big sides with it. Arsenal are on the cusp of becoming a golden generation, but need that few more players to make a big push for major trophies. Arsene Wenger knows best, and he knows now is the time to add more experienced, quality strikers and defenders in order to become champions again in England and European champions for the first time in club history.
