2010 WWE Draft Preview: The Divas

Christi LottCorrespondent IApril 6, 2010

In light of the WWE's announcement on Monday Night RAW of next week being the big WWE Draft, here's my thoughts on where some of the Divas should go.

Mickie James to RAW

Mickie has been lost in the shuffle on Smackdown now that Beth has made a face turn and Tiffany has been brought up to wrestle. With Melina still out, RAW needs an over face to lead the way. Eve is not cutting it and Kelly Kelly has not been pushed as a contender, so Mickie is the only seemingly legit over contender. Plus, she and Maryse had a decent feud, and put on a few decent matches. I know that Mickie is planning on pushing her music career in the near future, and luckily for her Melina, is expected to return in a few months.

Natalya to RAW

If it goes the way I think, Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith are coming to RAW, then Natalya will be coming too, and I think it's a good move. Whether heel or face, she can be what Beth Phoenix was on RAW. She's a great worker who can put on great matches with any of the Divas, and I think she'll be good in terms of carrying the still very green Divas on RAW's roster. More importantly, I think on RAW, she'll actually WRESTLE again, since I can't remember the last time that happened.

Kelly Kelly to Smackdown

It's time for a change of scenery, and she needs it the most. She's not being pushed as a contender, and is slowly becoming an afterthought. The same can be said about Gail Kim, but she's not someone a pick should be wasted on, unless she's turning heel. I think in being on Smackdown, she could have a feud with either Layla or Serena, or maybe my next pick. She may be thought of as third face behind Tiffany, but I'd say KK's ability to get a pop will put her behind Beth. It was tough choosing between her and Eve, but Eve's getting pushed and just needs to turn on the personality switch.

Katie Lea to Smackdown

Katie is a great wrestler who's also great on the mic. I actually think she could be a good addition to SES, especially on the mic, and maybe have a nice feud with either Kelly Kelly or even Beth Phoenix. She's got some great skills that shouldn't be ignored and it seems she could pull off the notion of being utterly devoted to CM Punk quite nicely, though I'm not sure about the head shave.

All in all, I don't think the Divas' roster will change much, nor does it need to. What needs to happen is some serious focus and storyline being put on eacch show. Smackdown is doing all right, but it needs to step away from repetition.
