It's Wake Up Time Golfers

Where are my golf clubs, my shoes, my lucky ball marker?  Did I put them in the garage or in the trunk of my car?  It's time to take inventory and see how many balls I need.

Practice?  We're talkin' about practice?  I don't have the time.  Tee time already set for Saturday.  I hope I don't hurt anyone, especially me.  I'll call ahead to all the folks who live in those houses along the fairways.....My slice is coming, put away all pets and small children!!!

Golf is all about talking smack isn't it?  The humor in a foursome can be as good as any stand up comedian might offer.  Lines like "Does your husband play too?" or "that ball does not have ears, there no sense talkin' to it".  Those are classic.  But there's great improv going on on the links too, you just need the right mix of guys/gals in the group.

All that being said, it's Masters Week and time for the golf itch to really break into spring form.  Benadril anyone?  I love to try to work on my game and break 90 every once in a while, but sometimes you just have to chalk the day up to some good laughs.

Funny things happen on golf courses.  A golf ball is a volatile projectile that can make some maneuvers Top Gun pilots wouldn't try.  There's nothing like hitting a drive which strikes a tree, a building or another defenseless object and sends the ball right back at the perpetrator.  Have you ever rolled off the tee box bodily after your drive did the boomerang trick?   Humorous...very humorous.

So its time to get ready.  Dust off and clean up those clubs and shoes.  Spring is here and Augusta's colors are inviting us out to take a look.  After your equipment is ready, don't forget to plan some fun golf trips.  Golf road trips are essential.  All my fellow golfers talk about them often and get the plans started....steaks...exploding golf balls...and of course some 19th hole refreshments!!  Also remember to arm yourself with a few new golf jokes.  The joke about Lee Trevino holding up a one iron has gotten old.  Although, if you play with old guys, sometimes they don't remember they heard that joke last year.

If it happens to be raining, go watch Tin Cup, or Bagger Vance for inspiration.  There's great humor there also.  The reason golf is so popular is because we can enjoy playing against ourselves, trying to beat our best, and enjoying the company of our buds at the same time.  Now go out there and slay the Dragon that has been haunting you all winter!!  And laugh until it hurts at the happenings of the day.
