Hawks Might Have Won Their Division, But They Want Something Bigger
The Hawks haveĀ officiallyĀ clinched the Central Division, the first time in 17 years. It's a quite achievement for the young Hawk team, but they are not content with stopping there.Call them selfish, or whatever you want, but this team has their eyes for one thing and one thing only: the Stanley Cup.Ā
It's a goal that every NHL team has at theĀ beginningĀ of the season, but only 16 actually get the chance. The Hawks have one of the best chances out of those teams, and they know it. This is why, while it's nice, the division title doesn't mean a thing if you don't have the Cup to show with it also.Ā

The win over Calgary Easter Sunday gave way to another goal the Hawks have in mind The chance of 1st in the Western Conference and home-ice advantage for the whole playoffs. Teams usually play better at home, and it's no different for the Hawks. The Hawks have a 28-8-3 record at the United Center, but their away record isn't that bad either, currently standing at 21-14-4. So the Hawks, while better at home, can still burn you on the road.Ā
If the playoffs started today, the Hawks would still play the LA Kings. Colorados' win and Calgarys' loss had those two teams flip-flop positions in the Conference standings. Calgary is now out the playoff picture, sitting at the 9th seed and Colorado are currently in the playoff picture, sitting at the 8th seed.Ā
Ā Now only two points behind the Sharks with four game to play, the Hawks are that much closer to also taking the Western Conference. They are also very close to clinching the #2 seed. With one more win the Hawks would have 107 points, and despiteĀ Vancouver's' win Sunday, they can't get any higher than 106 points.Ā
It's the last week ofĀ regularĀ season play, and then it's off to some playoff hockey!Ā
