The Eagle Has Landed: Donovan McNabb Is a Redskin
For years we have all had to endear the criticism of Donovan McNabb and it dates back to the year he was drafted! The Eagles front office wanted a quarterback and the Philadelphia fans wanted Ricky Williams, and ever since McNabb has been on the city of brotherly love's bad list.
A six time pro bowler, Donovan McNabb had made it his purpose to prove to the city how much he cared about being a consistent playmaker and a winner. Every time he tried he was rejected. The city of Philadelphia gets none of my respect. Their brotherly love is just about the same amount of love I give to a cockroach.

This is the same city that had Cole Hamels lead them to a World Series title and yet rejected him and begged for him to be traded after a 10 win, 11 loss season and posting an ERA of 4.32. Many were in uproar because Cliff Lee was traded to obtain Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels wasn't, yet this is the same guy who was the World Series MVP and had nearly 200 strike outs in the regular season.
Now I of all people know about McNabb's many screw ups, inaccuracy and ability to get hurt easily, but this is the best quarterback in your franchise's history and probably the best player since Reggie White was wreaking havoc.
Stupid announcers. Anyway I have never liked the way the city of brotherly love treated him and it's nothing like the situation with Tony Romo, where Bledsoe was playing awful. McNabb is still in his prime but the fans feel as if it is in his best interest to go to Washington. Philly fans would rather have a guy who is a nice back up but still not a proven stater to take over this young team.
I have all confidence in Kolb and I think he will be a good quarterback, but he will need a year or two of adversity first because this is a team that will be split due to the trade of Donovan McNabb and the release of Brian Westbrook. We should be used to this from the Eagles. I mean this is the team that let Reggie White get away and released Cris Carter both Hall of Famers.
I wish all the luck to Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick, in case Kolb gets injured, but maybe all of this will help address the other issues that need attention on that team.
I hope that this doesn't turn out to be like when Joe Montana was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs but it does seem to have that feel. Mike Shanahan has a way with quarterbacks, especially QB's who are under appreciated.
Maybe it is just Philadelphia's way of saying we weren't going to sign him anyway but at least it makes the Redskins draft pick a little easier to predict, which most likely will be linemen Russell Okung.
