Brains, Brawn...and Beauty: Top 15 Women Wrestlers In The Business Today

Ron JohnsonJul 13, 2008

Beside every great World Champion, there is a Diva or Knockout who is just as good. Hell, they have to be good to be talked about as much as these brain bashing beauties are. After Adam Wright decided not to include the Knockouts of TNA, I decided that it's only fair to look at the many pretty faces of both the WWE and TNA.

With that said, I've compiled a rundown of the 15 best Divas/Knockouts in the business today. Let's see how these apples fall.

15) ODB (TNA)

The well proportioned Minnesota Wild Child came to TNA to prove that she was "not just another pretty face." Boy did she ever prove that theory correct? From her trademark flask of courage to her unorthodox style, it didn't take long for ODB to make herself well known in the TNA Knockouts Division. Despite not being able to claim gold, yet, it's only a matter of time before blonde bombshell is Champion.

14) Maria (WWE)

Maria is living proof that sex still sells. Besides being a very funny person to talk to about anything from cars to things to do on flights, she recently graced the cover of Playboy, joining an elite group of WWE Divas to do so. But she has spent time working on her in ring skills as well showing that she is more than just a pretty centerfold.

13) Traci Brooks (TNA)

Beauty, brains and a complete mean streak. For most guys, she is the perfect woman to have in a barfight. For the members of TNA, she's the epitome of the role of women in TNA. Brooks is one of the originals who started with the company from the beginning. After parting ways with Robert Roode, Traci showed that was capable of competing with the boys as well as the girls.

12) Salinas (TNA)

Little is known about the foxy Latina who made her debut at the beginning of 2008. But in her time with TNA, she has proven that she can beat the hell out of the girls and the guys if necessary. From entrance to exit, it's only a matter of time before the Queen of the Latino Nation is adding some more gold to the camp of LAX.

11) Layla (WWE)

Since winning the Divas Search many moons ago, Layla has gone from the loveable girl with the curly locks to a straight haired, straight up physical vixen. Since throwing down her new look, Layla has shown that she can step out of the shadow of any Diva who thinks they're better than her. This is why it won't be long before she's wearing some gold around the tanned waist of hers.

10) Katie Lea Burchill (WWE)

Katie has proven that she is not only the brains behind the brother-sister duo, but she can get physical as well. In her short tenure, she has beaten Mickie James twice, and she showed her technical side at Night of Champions by focusing on James' arm during their championship match. Even with all this, she can be just as dangerous on her own as well as with her brother Paul.

9) Natalya Neidhart (WWE)

She's got the look. She's got the talent. She's got everything that a Diva needs to become champion. This is not even mentioning the fact that she is the daughter of "The Anvil" which means that she is a graduate of The Dungeon. But just because you're part of a famous family doesn't make you the top dog in any Divas comparison right off the bat. It's called a proving ground, Natalya.

8) Jacqueline (TNA)

One lifetime ago, she was one of the most dangerous women in WWE history. Now she is one of the most dangerous women in TNA. Though she has been more of a manager lately (just like in WCW), Jacqueline has no problem getting physical with anyone who gets in her way. As part of Beer Money, she has proven that she can beat up anybody...well almost anybody.

7) Victoria (WWE)

Despite not having a shred of gold in a few years, Victoria is one of the original Divas left from the Attitude Era and the beginning of the "Get the 'F' Out" campaign. In a locker room full of women who want to be called the best, Victoria is living proof that in order to be the best, you have to knock her off that mountain. Gold or no gold, Victoria is still dangerous.

6) Beth Phoenix (WWE)

Before her return, she was a dangerous woman. When she returned to her Glamazon status, she became a person possessed. Many would believe that Beth and Natalya can be considered the two best in the business today, but Michelle McCool and Mickie James have proven that they're just as beatable as any other Diva on the WWE roster. But no one can take away from the raw power and championship reign that Beth Phoenix possesses.

5) Melina (WWE)

If you want to talk about someone who broke out of the shadows of her men, look no further than Melina. It's been proven that Melina is the main reason why MNM found success in the WWE. It's been proven that Melina is a reason for the fallout of MNM. In all that, she has proven that she can battle. A former Women's Champion, it is only a matter of time before she is champion once again.

4) Taylor Wilde (TNA)

Why is Taylor up so high? Because like Mickie James, Gail Kim and even Trish Stratus, Taylor was given a hefty task in her first time out. And like those previously listed ladies, she overcame the odds and beat them senseless. That kind of perseverance, tenacity and toughness that oozes out of Wilde is exactly what a dying Division needs when it's dominated by someone like...

3) Awesome Kong (TNA)

Now I ask you: Has there been anyone who has been as dominant in the ring as Awesome Kong? Most would say Beth Phoenix and Natalya, but truth be told, I don't think either one of those women could last five minutes in the ring with this 6'3, 300-pound monster...who happens to be female. If Umaga got a tan, this is who he would look like.

2) Gail Kim (TNA)

Like Brooks, Kim is one of those TNA Knockouts that has been there from the start. The biggest thing about Kim is that she has won championships in every organization that she has been with. After passing up the chance of riding shotgun with Molly Holly in WWE, Kim came to TNA and instantly made an IMPACT! of her own. Besides being an accomplished wrestler, she was the first ever TNA Knockouts Champion.

1) Mickie James (WWE)

Where Victoria left off with Trish Stratus, Mickie James picked up on it. James started off as a overzealous fan of Stratus, but it didn't take long before the overzealous demeanor became obsession followed by jealousy. After beating Stratus at Wrestlemania to become champion, James has been a fan favorite ever since. James has faced the best and beaten the best en route to multiple reigns as Women's Champion.
