The Best Fit For Emeka Okafor

Emeka Okafor, in my opinion, is the best free agent available now. He is a solid big man who has not had help next to him since he stepped into the league.

Josh Smith has a lot of flaws to his game, but Okafor is a player who can potentially give you 15, 10, and two blocks a night. He controls the paint, and any team would like that.

The Bobcats are reportedly are trying to re-sign Okafor, but teams like Golden State, Memphis, and the Clippers have the money to lure him in.

Okafor loves Charlotte, as he was their first player when the franchise was made, but their amount of money and length in years for a contract may not match those of others.

The Clippers are a team that was in the hunt to be a contender in the West before Elton Brand bolted to the East, which is why they are pursuing a big man in Okafor.

Okafor and Chris Kaman will be a threat down low, as both can dominate the paint. This is a place where Okafor can play his true position as a power forward.

I feel the Clippers would be a very nice fit after losing Brand. The only problem is Okafor is not a type of player who can spread the floor. Having two true big men down low may be something to work with, but I do not seeing it working out as well as maybe getting Josh Smith or Zach Randolph.

The Memphis Grizzlies are full of guards. With Darko Mililicic as your starting center for next season, the Grizzlies need to spend their money now.

Okafor is a player who can control the paint, get offensive boards, and post and kick to the guards. He is a young player with a young team, which really fits well with what they need to do.

For the Grizzlies this would be a great scenario, but for Okafor he would not get the help down low that he needed in Charlotte. If the price is right, however, it would be tough to pass up on.

The Golden State Warriors could use a big man. Okafor would be a huge asset for this team. Him and Biedrins, who they expect to re-sign, would be a nice duo down low.

Both can fit the fast pace system of Don Nelson because Okafor is a really solid rebounder. He would give them second chances.

A huge upgrade for the Warriors would be on the defensive end. Okafor will bring in a whole new attitude for them. He can have the biggest impact on a team if he goes to Golden State.

I would predict Okafor leaves Charlotte for the Clippers. Okafor may just go for the money here, but also he would be going to a place that fits him the best. He would be given less pressure next to Kaman, and a talented group of guys around him, led by Baron Davis.

For the Clippers, this actually is an upgrade over Brand, because this will let Davis, Al Thornton, and Eric Gordon be scorers. With Brand, it would have taken away from these talented players. Also, Okafor is younger. This move would make the Clipper fans forget about Brand.

Emeka Okafor is a player who is rarely mentioned in big free agency moves. But he is the type of player that can change a team in a real positive manner.
