Moving Today's Market

Two strong pitching match ups are drawing the early betting action to start off the weekend. Cleveland’s season hasn’t lived up to expectations, but tonight’s starter Cliff Lee has far exceeded expectations. Lee is among league leaders with an 11-2 record and 2.43 ERA; including 4-0 with a 1.84 ERA in six home starts. He faces the team with baseball’s best record, Tampa Bay and starter James Shields (7-5, 3.64 ERA). Perhaps the most intriguing pair of starters comes from the AL East game between the Yankees and Blue Jays. New Yorksends phenom Joba Chamberlain (2-2, 2.45) to mound to square off against Jays ace Roy Halladay (10-6, 2.88). The bets are split pretty evenly, but the money is pushing the line towards the Blue Jays, who opened at -157 and are currently at -115 (Cris). Another game drawing strong interest sees White Sox hurler Gavin Floyd (10-4, 3.22) travel to Texas to face the Rangers’ potent offense. The bets are riding Floyd’s hot streak, 6-1 with a 3.55 ERA in his past eight starts, but the money is pushing the line towards Texas.

Baltimorefaces Clay Buchholz (2-3, 5.53 ERA), who threw a no-hitter against them last fall.
