Fantasy Baseball Spring Storylines: Mar. 18 (Willis, Snider, and More)
There was a small slate of games, but plenty of stories worth watching.Ā Just look at the performance of Dontrelle Willis, for example.
Dontelle Willis allowed no hits and one walk, striking out two over three shutout innings.Ā Over 10 innings, heās allowed just one earned run and five hits, but itās not all rosy.Ā Heās walked five and hit two batters.Ā Thatās a lot of free runners and heās not going to be giving up a hit every other inning for too long.Ā Heās got potential, but I certainly wouldnāt consider him a must-own gamble, would you?
Travis Snider erupted to go 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs.Ā Heās certainly a player to be considering as a sleeper in the outfield.
Rich Hill allowed three runs on two hits and five walks, striking out four over four innings against the Braves.Ā You didnāt expect Dave Duncan to work his magic overnight, did you?Ā Heās a name to keep an eye on off the waiver wire given Duncanās history (what does it say for Hill that the pitching coach is the reason to be watching him).
Rafael Furcal picked up his first stolen base of the preseason.Ā Maybe heāll remember how to do that in 2010, huh?
Jason Hammel allowed one run on five hits and no walks, striking out six over five innings, and is now sporting a 1.93 ERA this spring in 14.0 innings.Ā Even more impressive is his 12 strikeouts and zero walks.Ā Tim Lawrence discussed him earlier in the preseason (click here to view) and so far Hammel looks primed for a big season.Ā Iām still skeptical, but he certainly has pitched his way onto my radar.
