In case you don't know, Darius Morris has been among the top ten ranked point guards in the class of 2009 for most of is high school career. This summer though, Morris has taken aim at some bigger plans.
He wants to get into one of the top spots before the summer ends.
"This month I've been putting countless hours in the gym and I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to show everybody what I've been improving on and getting better at," Morris told Rivals.com.
While playing for Belmont Shore, Morris has been able to orchestrate a powerful offense, but is still trying to improve his decision making skills. Morris knows, this is an invaluable tool that is essential for a NCAA Division I point guard these days. His goal of reaching one of the top spots, is aided by his strong work ethic and desire to prove he can play at a high level.
College coaches don’t need to be convinced of Morris’ ability with the point guard has drawn interest from several high majors including offers from: Michigan, Washington State, Marquette, Oregon State and USC. Texas, Arizona, Stanford and Kentucky have also shown very strong interest. And although many schools are interested in the talented point guard, several stand out in the pack.
"I would say Michigan and Kentucky are probably showing me the most love. Coach Beilein is really on me. Ever since he saw me last summer, he's been on me," Morris said. "Coach Bennett, too, at Washington State. He's one of the first coaches to give me a scholarship offer and that's why they will always stay up there."
Morris plans to take several official visits this summer to help in making his decision.
