Jaden's View: Will Rey Mysterio Ever Turn Heel?

The Jaden SmallingsContributor IFebruary 26, 2010

Hello, bleachers and welcome to the first ever edition of Jaden's view.

Today's topic is whether or not Rey Mysterio will ever turn heel in his career.

Now, can anyone remember the last time Rey Mysterio portrayed the role of a heel in WWE?

Nobody should, because he never has.

Mysterio is one of those superstars who most people can't imagine as a heel.

The reason being that everything about Mysterio screams baby face.

His voice, his charisma, the way he's over with the fans, and even his underdog gimmick.

Which is exactly why a Rey Mysterio heel turn would draw more ratings then WWE could ever imagine.

How would it draw ratings?

Well, honestly watching how WWE could turn Mysterio heel would definitely be interesting. Also, Mysterio already draws a huge amount of ratings, if he turned heel then most viewers would tune in to watch WWE's number one hero transform into an anti-hero.

Let's think about it, Mysterio could be like Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself turn into the villain."

Obviously when comparing to Rey Mysterio it would be something like "since he couldn't win the world heavyweight championship back as the good guy, he's going to have to do it as the bad guy."

Now, if Mysterio were to turn heel, let's look at the pros and cons of a Mysterio heel turn.

Ratings: Like I mentioned before, a Mysterio heel turn would increase ratings and viewership by a lot.

Feuds : With a Mysterio heel turn we could see fresh feuds that we've never dreamed of seeing such as  Mysterio versus Triple H and maybe even Mysterio versus John Cena.

Speed: To be honest, Mysterio has done dirty and cowardly tactics in the past using his speed. His speed can easily anger faces and can help him get over with the fans as a heel.

Merchandise : If Mysterio turned heel, kids won't buy his masks anymore which basically means trouble for WWE's merchandise sales.

Fans: Mysterio may be one of the most popular superstars in WWE history, fans just can't boo him and his high flying aerial moves.

Size: I'm not sure whether or not fans would take Mysterio serious as a heel due to his size.

Jaden's Conclusion :

Although a Rey Mysterio heel turn would be interesting and would draw ratings, Vince can't afford to turn a kid favorite like Mysterio heel especially with the PG rating still in tact.

Like I noted before, Mysterio is over with the fans, sells merchandise, and is a natural face. Which basically means if WWE wants to continue to be successful they should never turn Mysterio heel, and I mean never .
