Well let's start off by saying the UFA (unrestricted free agent) class this year isn't bad, due to the collective bargaining agreement, it should be better.
Remember with UFA's, we don't have to trade anyone our draft picks, just our cash.
Now down to business. I looked over all the UFA's this year and well there are only a few on offense even mentioning that could bolster the Hawks offense.
I saw nothing special in the QB, RB (except Chester Taylor, best season 1,216 yds before that in the 800's and Willie Parker, too old), in the WR well, I hope we keep Burleson because he's the best in my opinion.
Now to the O-Line, all of the OL UFA's are in their 30's or close to but here's a few worth mentioning: Minnesota Vikings RG Artis Hicks 6'4 335 age 31, big guard but has really good foot work and upper body strength, plays mean.
Green Bay Packers L Tackle Chad Clifton 6'5 320 not excellent in pass protection but is adequate.
Arizona Cardinals L tackle Mike Gandy, we know who the man is, he made "Lojack" look like "NoSack."
That's it on offense that I could see us getting. Sorry, gang; not much out there.
Now to the D-Line. Even though some of these guys are on a 3-4 defense, I still wouldn't mind having them on our team.
Well let's start off by saying their are a few names you all have heard of: NE's Vince Wilfork, 28 years old; and SF's Aubrayo Franklin, will probably be franchise tagged, but like you guys, I wish we had a chance at either one of them. Franklin is 29 years old.
Now to Bengals DT Domata Peko (could be franchised as well), but 6'3 318 he had 43 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He is very big, almost always double-teamed, and the best part is that he is only 25.
Imagine Mebane and Peko destroying the middle of offensive lines for years to come.
Then to the best DE without the last name Peppers. New Orleans DE Will Smith 6'3 282 age 28. Last season was a big one for him (if you haven't heard they won the Super Bowl)coming off of a 49 tackle 13 sack season.
Yeah, I think he would fit right in here in Seattle; only problem is most free agents coming from a Super Bowl win almost always ask for too much money. We'll see.
Now to the secondary. I'll skip the LB's because I think we're good there.
I'll start off with the only safety I think could instantly help this team.
Pittsburg FS Ryan Clark 5'11 205 89 tackles 3 int. Very good tackler, Good field vision. Could complement Deon Grant very well.
Now to CB. Almost all of the CB were getting up there in age. So I picked a couple that could really help this team instantly.
Texans Dunta Robinson 5'10 184 age 27, 64 tackles. He reminds me of Trufant too much but a decent cover man.
Now to the gem of CB's, Patriots CB Leigh Bodden 6'1 193 age 28, 55 tackles 5 ints. Very good cover man, smart (because Belichick only plays smart players) and a decent tackler.
Well guys it's been fun.
