NASCAR's Best Manufacturer.

Clayton CaldwellJul 2, 2008

Of NASCAR's four manufacturers, Ford is the one that is most dedicated to their teams. Hear me out on this one.

Toyota has really stepped up their program in 2008, no lie! Their 2008 season has been outstanding. All the Gibbs cars have had a nice season, Red Bull Racing is starting to show signs of being a big team, and MWR now has all three cars in the top-35.

With that being said, when the No. 27 car of Bill Davis Racing needed sponsorship, Toyota did jump on, but for one race. Later on that team folded. The 00 teamĀ went sponsorless at one race too. Ā

Dodge has been the most improved manufacturer over the last eight weeks. Kasey Kahne is back on top of his game after a year of not being on top, and Kurt Busch picked up his first win of 2008 at New Hampshire. Elliott Sadler's consistency has also been stellar over the last three weeks.

However, when Robby Gordon needed sponsor on his No. 7 Dodge the last two weeks, Dodge left it to Camping World to pick up their end of the bargain. The No. 40 team just folded after being with Dodge since 2001. They had Dodge on the car twice, but needed Dodge's help to stay afloat and Dodge couldn't pull through, even though they sponsored two cars in 2007.

Chevrolet is the most impressive manufacturer. Hendrick, Childress, and even DEI are their three big players. Chevy has won four of the 17 races so far and are sitting second, third, fifth, sixth, 11th, and 12th in the standings. However, they do not sponsor a car, and have not since the end of 2006.

Ford, however does just that. Wood Brothers racing is using Ford Motorcraft on the No. 21 this season for eight races this (that is, eight that don't have Little Debbie or Air Force) and they have also helped Doug Yates' No. 28 car for two (three if you count Darlington when they were on the front hood!) races this season.

The 28 car has gone sponsorless for six of the 17 races this season, but Ford has pitched in for three races, in which they have helped this team and the 21 team.

Had Robby Gordon stuck with Ford this season there is no doubt in my mind that he would have Ford on the car this week at Daytona. Ford is the most loyal manufactuer, and thank God we have them, or this sport would be in even a bigger mess with cars folding!

If the 21 had not been a Ford all these years, they would probley be another team that has folded, but since they do they can continue to try and make it in this sport as one of the last single-car operations.

To me, Ford is NASCAR's best manufacturer.
