Manchester United are tracking £15 million-rated Colombian goal-scoring sensation Falcao as an alternative to Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has received glowing reports on the prolific River Plate forward.

Falcao, 22, is similar in style to current United striker Carlos Tevez, and has scored 38 goals in 58 games for his Argentine club.

Falcao, nicknamed El Tigre, is renowned for his lethal finishing and has stated his ambition to move to a big European club.

His strike rate has also attracted interest from around Europe, including Real Madrid and Juventus.

Berbatov remains United's top summer transfer target, but Spurs are reluctant to sell to another English club, which is why they have quoted a fee of £30 million for their prized asset.

Tottenham are willing to accept a lower price from a foreign side, but do not want to see Berbatov go to one of the Premier League's big four while they themselves have Champions League ambitions.

Is Falcao Manchester United's man? Or is it Schweinsteiger or Berbatov?

  1. Schweinsteiger!!!! he will be able to take over either wing position in the event ronaldo leaves or once giggs retires which could be soon!! speed, determination, and a nasty beckham like cross... i would love to see this guy at old trafford. hope that happens. why not bolth

  2. I've watched Falcao alot, since I keep track of how River do usually throughout the year. River over Boca... I wouldn't be a true Madrid fan if I wasn't. He's very good, and tears through defenses well.

But I'm not sure he has the caliber to rise to a big european club, especially as big as United. Plus, I think Tevez is better, and, well, is Rooney going to have his spot taken by an unproven Argentine national? Doubtful.

  3. I ve seen him play and he dosent seem too good, decent striker. He might flourish with Rooney/Tevez behind him.
