Mark Mangino's Jayhawks will have to show as much confidence on the road in Stillwater as their coach has in his wardrobe.
The BCS standings still have a lot of sorting out to do down the stretch—so don't lock in Ohio State and LSU just yet.
Here's a look ahead at this weekend's biggest games...
No. 1 Ohio State played a 17-10 squeaker last year against Illinois, and the combination of Juice Williams and Rashard Mendenhall might be enough to get it done in Columbus for Ron Zook's club.
I saw a spread earlier at +15 for Illinois. I don't think the Illini will lose by more than 10 points.
Prediction: Illinois 21, Ohio State 20
And the title dream ends for the Buckeyes.
No. 4 Kansas at Oklahoma State features a man, he's forty, and his name is Mike Gundy.
Kansas beat up on a terrible Nebraska team, but also gave up 21 more points to the Huskers than Oklahoma State did a month ago.
Scoring won't come easy for the Jayhawks—and defense prevails late for the Cowboys as the fans in Stillwater rush the field.
Prediction: Oklahoma State 38, Kansas 31
No. 11 Virginia Tech hosts Florida State. The Noles are coming off a win over previously unbeaten Boston College.
In the Hokies' last home game, they blew a late lead to Boston College. Look for more of the same against FSU.
Prediction: Florida State 20, VA Tech 17
No. 13 UConn at Cincinnati is the game to watch in the Big East.
UConn is the only team in the conference without a conference loss, but that will change this weekend. QB Matt Mauk leads the Bearcats to a big win at home.
Prediction: Cincinnati 31, UConn 23
Texas Tech at Texas is also an interesting matchup, and could turn into a barnburner awful quick. The Ol' Ball Coach and the Gamecocks will play Florida tight this week, and Georgia will stay atop the SEC East with a win over Auburn.
Those are the picks that matter this week. You heard it here...now I'm out.
