The 10 Worst Sports Broadcasters and Commentators

While there are many awful personalities in the world of sports I have compiled a list of the 10 biggest offenders.
It is not a surprise that many on this list work for ESPN but that is due more to the shear number of on air personalities they have and not on the quality of product they produce.
An Honorable mention has to go to ESPN's "Around the Horn" for bringing together many of the worst writers in the country to wine at each other for a half hour every week day.
Tell me what you think and remember there is no wrong answer in this scenario. Who are the worst broadcasters and commentators in your opinion?
10.Woody Paige
I often question whether or not Woody Paige should be institutionalized. He is often poorly spoken and can't keep his own arguments straights. He would be closer to one on the list on pure talent but his effort to entertain keeps him at 10.
9.Petros Papadakis
You may not have heard of former fullback Petros Papadakis and you should feel lucky if you haven't. He has his own radio show in L.A., has hosted Pros Vs Joes and calls college football games for Fox Sports Net. His combo of poor rhythm and the worst voice in broadcasting make him almost unbearable.
8.Skip Bayless
The star of ESPN's first take and known by Jay Crawford as "The Diabolical Hater" Skip Bayless often uses his outrageous opinions to incite viewers and opponents. Skip is so far out there most of the time it is hard to take him seriously. He is a bit of a joke but the man can argue with the best of them.
7.Troy Aikman
There are few things in sports more painful than having to hear Aikman call a Dallas Cowboys game. Aikman seems clueless to the fact that he is severely biased towards his former team. While he is awful during Cowboys games he is not much better in the rest.
6.Phil Simms
Phil Simms seemed hell bent on ruining this years Super Bowl. I had to mute the game a few times because of Simms. I didn't have a rooting interest in the game but Simms' awful bungling of the two-point conversion call was disgraceful.
5.Boomer Esiason
The only thing about the Super Bowl that was worse than Simms was Boomer in the studio. I am not a huge fan of the CBS team and Boomer makes them all look better with his total ineptness. I got several texts before the game begging for Esiason to shut his mouth.
4.Tim McCarver
McCarver is the perfect storm of cranky old man and boring as watching paint dry. While compiling this list I began to ask myself if Joe Buck brings the worst out in people.
3.Emmitt Smith
The poorly spoken ex-Cowboy was recently announced into the Hall Fame but definitely not for his work as a commentator. His epic flubs like, "Eli Manning has been given the rice of passage." and "As my offense get better, my defense is goin be that much more better," will live in infamy forever.
2.Chris Berman
Back, back, back off Berman. Berman shtick has grown old and tired over the years. His nicknames , I won't go into the millions he has come up with to avoid innervating myself any further, are one of the worst things in sports.
1.Jay Mariotti
So the picture is not of Jay Mariotti (it's SI cover model and Andy Roddick's wife Brooklyn Decker) I couldn't bring myself to subject you to his sour face. Jay is a joyless sports writer that I honestly never have heard anyone say anything nice about.
Mariotti is a contributer in the often frustrating and always moronic show, "Around the Horn." It is a miracle host Tony Reali has not gone crazy and started busting up monitors.
