In my last article i wrote about the reasons why Indian Football wasn't progressing. Now I'll be writing about what the AIFF can do to change the quality of the game and bring India back to the Footballing Map.

1.State Championships must be overlooked.

A lot of importance is give to State Championships such as the Santosh Trophy, whereas the standard of Football in such Championships is absolutely apalling.Abolishing Santosh Trophy would give the members of the national team some time to rest as they won't have to compete in another tournament.

2.The I-League games should be played only on weekends.

By doing this the top teams will be able to get valuable time to train for AFC Cup games and other teams can get some rest as they won't be playing one game every 3 days or so.

3.The I-League Division 2 must be played alongside the 1st Division

To make the I-League more professional, both the divisions must be played simultaneously, like most of the European leagues, this would make the 2nd Division teams more regular as they would be playing for most of the year, unlike now, where the 2nd Division gets wrapped up in about 4 months.

4.The quality of the pitches must be increased.

The games in the I-League are mostly played under the sun which makes the ground hard and the ball bounces too much.To resolve this problem, the game can be played around 5 p.m IST when the day is over and the night is starting to creep in.

5.The games must be shown regularly on the T.V

As of now the games are broadcasted by Zee Sports,a television channel that people rarely watch. The I-League must be broadcasted by a channel which is watched regularly by viewers, such as Tensports.

I think that making all these changes can atleast make Football a bit more popular in India.
