Toronto Maple Leafs, Johnny Pohl

Icon Sports MediaThe Toronto Maple Leafs head into Scotiabank Place looking to win the third game of the season series against the Ottawa Senators.

After a home-and-home series that saw the Ottawa came out on top, the Sens have gone on to a record of 12-1-0.

On the other side, the Leafs have played inconsistently since those two games, and hold a record of 6-6-3.

The Senators defeated the Leafs in the first two games of the season, and the Leafs are raring to go for the rematch—especially Mark Bell.

The new Leaf is looking to start his career with the Blue and White on the right foot.

"That's the best way to do it, play against the best team in the league and the fastest team, I think" said Bell.

The former Blackhawk and Shark has missed the first 15 games of the year while serving a suspension for drunk driving.

The key for the Leafs in this game will be defense. They have struggled immensely this year on the back end, and need to get a strong game out of their defensemen.

I know you've heard it a million times—but goaltending will also be important for both teams.

Vesa Toskala played a great game for the Leafs in Montreal on Saturday. Meanwhile, there's controversy in Ottawa over who should be the starting goaltender.

Martin Gerber has great for the Sens with a 9-1-0 record, a 1.88 GAA, and a .938 save percentage. Ray Emery, the expected starter at the beginning of the year, has only appeared in two games, posting a 2-0-0 record, a 2.50 GAA, and a save percentage of .902.

Predictions

Starters: Vesa Toskala, Martin Gerber

Score: Leafs 4, Sens 2

  1. ok one thing to add to your good post is that, are you a sens fan??
I came into this team to write about my favorite team, the sens. and it seems as if on the sens page are stories regarding them losing to the leafs??
    what??

  2. no i'm not a sens fan
although i tried to preview the game not favouring either of the teams

  3. people can be sens fans and still predict a loss...it could go either way, thats the spontanaity of the sport...sure most sens fans go for the win, as leafs fans want to win aswell...but who really knows?

  4. and we both responded at the exact time, creepy

  5. and we both responded at the exact time, creepy

  6. yea....kinda weird

  7. Not a chance Devin. Even with a new 'jailbird' goon who is still upset he was suspended after climbing into a car after a bunch of beers and slamming into another driver. You'll never be able to figure out leaf fans, but who really cares. Sens 4, Jailbird lovers 0.

  8. I no im a die hard sens fan but even if i was a leaf fan i still would no that ottawa will take it. the series and game. leaf fans always will say well we kicked ur ass for like 7 years, but guess what it the new NHL and toronto hasnt showed there contenders for even an expansion team. the sens will take this game and i dont even care what the score is. its the new not the old and leaf fans should no jump off their " band wagon " and take a look at the real picture!

  9. I don't understand how anyone could have predicted a Leafs victory over the Senators. It was just never going to happen... not with the kind of streak the Sens are on, and the kind of struggles the Leafs are facing...
