Today is Martin Johnson’s first day at Rugby House on Rugby Road in Twickenham - RFU HQ.

Presumably he will get a tour of the offices, shown where the coffee machine is, introduced to the 57 old farts that still patrol the hallways admiring their portraits on the wall, and taken to the newly-created ‘Rob Andrew Review Room’ with its ‘No Admittance for 4 Months’ sign.

But Johnno, don’t delay. Change it all, throw your weight around, have things done your way, the way that will benefit the top end of the England setup.

Johnson’s first job will be to name the 32-man elite training squad, and possibly to install his coaching team around him. Both will give us an indication of how he intends to run the show in his new role, and we’ll await the news with baited breath.
