OK Bronco fans—there is good news and bad news. The good news is the VA Tech game has been moved up to Labor day (Sept. 6, 2010). The kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST and that means 6:00 PM MDT for the people in Boise, Idaho. The first four games and dates are:
Mon., Sept. 06 Virginia Tech at Fed Ex Field – 6:00 PM (Mountain Time)
Sat., Sept. 18 Wyoming at Laramie, WY – TBA
Sat., Sept. 25 Oregon State Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) – TBA
Sat., Oct. 09 Toledo Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) – TBA
Yes that was great news, of the two big fish next season-one is on the very first game. Now for the rest of the story—but it’s not so pretty—so excuse me while I dry my eyes!
The Boise State football program has just lost one of its quality innovators. Justin Wilcox the defensive coordinator for the Broncos who masterminded brilliant defensive attacks for Boise State, especially last season.
The two biggest games in 2009 were the Oregon Ducks (the Boise state opener) and TCU Horned Frogs (the final game/Fiesta Bowl victory).
Wilcox did not pull a rabbit out of a hat in any game for Boise State, but he knew how to get the defense ready and he knew what defensive technique would work against opposing offenses.
Of course Bronco fans want to not breath hard and be able to say we are and will be alright as long as coach Pete doesn’t go away.
But being real says “man oh man” of all the coaches to go—Wilcox? Is it something I have done GOD? Was I not kind enough to coach Pease? I am Sorry—don’t let him leave, and if he’s packed and gone—make him come back.
All joking aside “Oh my GOD!”
Wilcox was an extreme talent and coach Pete will have his hands full now trying to replace him—the job first goes to coach Pete Kwtatkowski (the Defensive line coach. Good luck with the new job Coach K (your fans believe in you) — And good luck with whoever else coach Petersen needs. And as much as it pains me to say—That’s another story—Go Broncos
