How does a college football fan pick who to root for in the Super Bowl when they do not have a real favorite among the professional teams? Just do what comes natural to you on Saturdays; pull for your favorite college team.

Here is how easy this is. Just count how many players there are from your school on each roster and declare that your team.  Presto, you now have a rooting interest in the Super Bowl.

Great, but what if the Colts and Saints have an equal number of former players from a school? Just like college football has a better overtime than the NFL, at College Sports Matchups we have a plan for this as well. Subtract the number of players from your biggest rival and whichever team has the greatest number of players from your school left becomes your team.

If your single most hated rival still does not produce a result giving your team a numerical edge, then simply keep repeating the process until you have your answer. If you get bored after the third round of this just flip a coin and move on.

Now, what if there are no players from your school on the rosters for the Super Bowl? Easy again. You want to pull for the team with the fewest players from your big rival. Total those players on each roster up and wa lah…you have a team to pull for. The one with the least number of players from this dreaded adversary. If the first round does not solve the issue because of a tie, just keep going until you have a team. Remember, you don’t want to do anything that might give positive karma to teams you cannot stand to see be successful. Oh, one more thing, say over a period of several years you never have any players from your school on a Super Bowl roster; it might be time to pick another team to pull for.  Your school might not be very good.

We will send one to you right away. If you tell us who your favorite school is we will even do the work for you and send you back an answer for who you should pull for this Saturday…uhhhh, Sunday. We know some of you will comment that you can do this yourself. Great. We are just offering to save time for those that value it a little more than you.

Now that you have your team picked, move on to more important Super Bowl planning. Food. We will be serving a hot dog and brat buffet with toppings that range from my signature chili to peanut butter. Now that is what makes the Super Bowl really super!

Good luck to your team and don’t you just love (college) football!?
