Arsenal Draw Villa: Sol Is Back
How sad, Thomas V, having been rested against Stoke to prevent injury, went off injured yesterday with a suspected fractured fibia (say that 15 times fast... okay it´s actually not that hard)
What bad luck. Or is it?!?!
The skeptics will suggest we never should have signed Sol, as this has clearly set off a chain of cosmic events which led to Tommy V´s injury.
Those still in possession of all of their marbles will release it was just a crappy collision in a frantic game, in which the Aston Villa players must have kicked through the back of the Arsenal players every time they got the ball.
I like a physical game, but I have noticed in our last three games that every time AA, Eddie, or pretty much anyone receives the ball with their back to goal, an opposing player steams through the back of them and just gives them the slightest knock/ freight train collision. Causing them to lose their balance and invariably the ball.
I´m not a fan of this tactic. I believe in playing the ball and not the man.
Sometimes these were awarded as free kicks against Villa last night, and unfortunately we didn´t have Robin or Juninho Perambucano to stick one of them home. It would have been awesome if Cesc could have knocked a freebie past Brad Friedel twice this season, but alas it wasn´t to be.
Despìte being nil-nil, it was a good game. Both sides had some chances, and I was sooo disappointed when Rosicky´s effort cannoned off the underside of the bar and our players didn´t start celebrating. I thought that second half thingy-ma-jig had crossed the line and ricocheted back out. Unfortunately no, and we had to settle for a point.
Wenger said it was two points dropped. It probably was. We need to probably win two and draw one, or win all three of our next games in order to keep up in the title race. Three draws won´t kill us, but it will place the proverbial ball into the court of the two cunts competing with us for Barclay´s gold this season.
I hope we win on Sunday, and I hope Samir Nasri starts doing something.
Has he done anything this season?
Good game again for Cesc last night, but I saw some frustration when Rosicky and Ramsey got lost in communication. Rosicky then ended up taking a pretty pathetic shot after Cesc had beaten his man and stuck the ball off Friedel´s far post.
Very sad indeed. Back to work I go. Hope you guys enjoyed today more than our game last night.
