2010 Senior Bowl: Notable ACC Player Reports
Jeffrey FannJan 27, 2010
One of the biggest stories coming out of Senior Bowl practices is the play of Clemson WR Jacoby Ford. In this Sporting News Senior Bowl Update from Russ Lande, Jacoby Ford has "clearly established himself as the most polished receiver on the North roster."
I heard a comparison of Ford the other day to Laveranues Coles. It wasn't so much in playing style or size, but while at Florida State, Coles was typically overshadowed by the higher profile Peter Warrick.
C.J. Spiller was the star of the Clemson offense, and Ford more in the background like Coles to Warrick. Laveranues Coles has gone on to have a very credible NFL career, and that might be in Jacoby's future.
From CNNSI, Tony Pauline has put together an update for all 3 days:
Day 1 Practice Report
Day 2 Practice Report
Day 3 Practice Report
From his day-two practice report, Pauline said that Florida State's LB Dekoda Watson was struggling in coverage drills. Miami's Darryl Sharpton also did not have a good day-two practice. Like Watson, Sharpton did not perform well in the coverage drills.
In his day-three report, Pauline writes that Virginia CB Chris Cook was putting on a strong performance. He was physical and made plays on the ball.
Another Seminole CB, Patrick Robinson, continues to slide. The quicker players consistently beat him. I guess we are starting to see why the Seminole defense struggled so badly this season. Ouch! Did I say that?
Lastly, from day three, it wasn't all bad news for 'Noles players. Rhodes Scholar Myron Rolle improved all week. Here's guessing the former Seminole safety will have one of the highest Wonderlic Test scores at NFL draft camps.
