Wolves V Liverpool Preview: Premier League Football
Wolves - Liverpool
26th January 2010
Molineux
Kick-Off: 19:45 GMT
Liverpool
Heading into this Wolves vs Liverpool Premier League football clash, the Reds find themselves turning their season around slowly but surely.
A 2-0 win at home without both Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres over high-flying Tottenham was the latest positive result for Rafa Benitez's men ahead of this Liverpool vs Wolves match
The victory saw Liverpool move into 6th place, trailing 4th placed Spurs and 5th placed Manchester City by only one point.
After the FA Cup debacle that saw the Reds go out 1-2 to Reading, Liverpool were generally unlucky to see a last minute equaliser prevent them from taking a full three points in their 1-1 draw at Stoke three days later.
But the victory over Spurs last week without their two leading stars will have likely done wonders for the Reds heading into this Wolves vs Liverpool fixture.
Liverpool will still be without both Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard, although the latter could return for the side against Bolton on Saturday.
Yossi Benayoun will also miss out on the match with a rib injury.
Wolves
Wolverhampton Wanderers continued with their disappointing run of late, after managing only a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Wolves had to twice come from behind to force the replay at Palace, and manager Mick McCarthy will likely be somewhat disappointed with the result.
Heading into this Wolves vs Liverpool Premier league clash, the side have not fared any better in the Premier League, losing their last three matches to Wigan, Manchester City, and upcoming opponents Liverpool.
Wolves find themselves 17th in the league, equal on points with 18th placed Hull and 16th placed West Ham.
McCarthy will have defender Richard Stearman back from suspension, whilst new signing Geoffrey Mujangi Bia could make his Premier League debut.
Prediction
The last Liverpool vs Wolves meeting came on Boxing Day at Anfield, with the Reds victorious by a 2-0 margin.
Even without some of their stars, Liverpool should still have enough depth - and enough confidence - to find a victory at Molineux on Tuesday night and claim 4th spot on the Premier League ladder.
