NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 20: Arinze Onuaku #21 of the Syracuse Orange shoots against Ed Davis #32, David Wear #34, and Travis Wear #43 of the North Carolina Tar Heels during the championship game of the 2K Sports Classic on November 20, 2009 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. After their most recent losses what is long overdue has taken place.  North Carolina is not in this week's bracket projection.  They're down near the bottom of the ACC and are in a tailspin.

Speaking of tailspins, Texas falls from the top of the heap while Syracuse takes their place in the rarified air of number one seeds.  Of course, the Orange will have to pack their bags for the rarified air of Salt Lake City but I don't think they would complain too much.

The last four teams to sneak under the velvet rope are Maryland (sitting atop the ACC), Notre Dame(playing much better lately), Tulsa(like UAB they are undefeated in Conference USA play) and Florida(though the Gators will probably balance on the bubble all season long).

The first four teams to get pushed back by men who spend way too much time in the gym are Charlotte(don't see the A-10 getting five teams in), William & Mary(beat Maryland but are choking in CAA play), Wichita State(but don't shocked if the Shockers find their way in soon) and Marshall(needed a better showing against West Virginia).

The seed breakdown is as follows: Big 12 (7), Big East (7), ACC (6), SEC (6), Big 10 (5), Atlantic 10 (4), Mountain West (3), Conference USA (2), everyone else got one.

I would be very surprised to see any conference get eight teams in.  If you want to guess at the eighth team that would be a candidate you could go with Cincinnati and Texas Tech.  The Bearcats lost to Louisville and have seven losses overall.  The Red Raiders have ruined a fine start with subpar Big 12 play.

So with that on the table here's the latest field of 65:
