Deja Vu: Brett Favre Relives 2007, This Time in New Orleans
"In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina, can't you see the sunshine, can't you just feel the moonshine, ain't it just like a friend of mine it hit me from behind yes, I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind."āJames Taylor
A song that Brett Favre is sure to be familiar withāreplace Carolina with New Orleans, and you'd immediately experience Favre's game plan heading into Sunday.
Unfortunately, it didn't work out.

Looking at Brett, you wouldn't pick him as the type of guy that would be into spiritual and mystical beings. If his mind ever had the thought of visiting a fortune teller, it would be interesting to see what the outcome would be. Win? Loss? Or another possible career-ending interception?
Out of the three, two of them turned out to be correct Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints. For those gullible fans that bought into the NFL's "Minnesota Vikings 2009 NFC Champions" t-shirt scheme, donate them to Goodwill; St. Vincent DePaul is the only foundation that would want them now.Ā
As for the Vikings, well, they disappointed a lot of people: Prince, Brad Childress, Tony Kornheiser, and more importantly, the numerous YouTube personalities that felt it fitting to write a folk song about their beloved team.
Like 2007, Brett now has a cold and sour note to live on going into the winter. Unlike a bear, don't expect Brett to go into hibernation this cold season. I have a feeling that we will be hearing his Mississippi accent more than once in the upcoming months.
Quirky quotes aside, Brett would be feeling down in the dumps. For a quarterback with as much skill, wherewithal, and presence of mind that he has shown all season, to make a throw like he did at the end of regulation is rarely ever accomplished. If only Favre was playing Madden.
From what was fast becoming the glory story for many years, Brett Favre's so-called confident and newfound "best team" was left wondering why they had bought into Favre in the first place. Then the idea of Tarvaris Jackson entered players' minds, and ole No. 4 was consoled for his loss.
In possibly one of the games of the decade, Brett Favre did give it his all. Throw after throw, handoff after handoff, Brett gave one of the greatest football performances that any 40-year-old man could ever put on.
After a while though, the rough hits and bone-shattering tackles took a toll on not only his confidence, but his ability as well. Leaving briefly in the third quarter with an injured ankle, NFL fans witnessed a rare sight when Favre left the field. Ā
For a rare moment, it almost seemed like Favre was on the verge of tears when exiting toward the sidelines. In shots prior to the Saints' game-winning field goal, Brett was shown being consoled by teammates.
With all of this said, I can't help but say, now Vikings fans know how it feels. The rivalry aside, coming so close to a Super Bowl spot and losing the way the Packers and now the Vikings have suffered is a tough pill to swallow for any human being.
For some fans that despise Favre, today's game was a godsend. For those that recognize the true hero and future Hall of Fame quarterback that I say would be upset to see his legacy possibly (and not for the first time) end with an interception.
For the Green Bay faithful, you can rest easy now. Favre didn't stick it to us; if anything, he stuck it to himself. Those old No. 4 jerseys are hanging in your closets, so next time you're going through looking for your favorite pair of shoes, stop and think about how much Vikings fans have suffered now as well.Ā
As for Favre, it may not be the end. He loves the game and loves the excitement. Now, though, things may not be the same. The disappointment is back, the after-game soreness is now arising, and the thought of retiring is ever present. Forget the Super Bowlābuckle yourselves in for a wild and bumpy offseason with Brett.
