UFC GYM Hosts Grand Opening, Several UFC Stars To Attend

Ever wonder what it's like to train like an MMA fighter?  Now you have the chance to find out first-hand.

The UFC and New Evolution Fitness Company (NEFC) have partnered to bring the MMA training experience to you.

On Saturday Jan. 23 UFC GYM will host the grand opening of its flagship facility in Concord, Calif.  UFC President Dana White and resident superstar Chuck Liddell will be on hand to celebrate the event. Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. and will feature autograph sessions with Anthony Johnson, Jon Fitch, Mike Swick, Josh Koscheck, and Cain Velasquez.

Light heavyweight fighter Brandon Vera will also be holding a workout demonstration.

In addition to fighters being on hand, the UFC will be giving away several prizes throughout the day, including a trip to the upcoming UFC 109: Relentless, which is headlined by Randy "The Natural" Couture as he takes on fellow hall-of-famer Mark Coleman on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, Nev.

If that wasn't enough (and it should be), UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste will be on hand as well.

While the grand opening takes place this Saturday, the doors to the UFC Gym have been open since November. The response they have already received has been overwhelming, as UFC Gym Senior VP Adam Sedlack states that in over a decade in the industry he's never experienced a launch quite like this.

The UFC brand obviously has quite a bit to do with that as it is the world's fastest growing sport.

But as you walk in you don't just encounter a gym full of Brock Lesnar or Anderson Silva wannabes.  They seem to have struck a nice balance in giving the gym a UFC feel, but also keep it comfortable and welcoming for people not as familiar with the UFC.

A quick glance around the two-story facility might just surprise you.  Men and women of all ages can be found working on anything from cardio to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes.

The facility boasts some of the latest state of the art fitness equipment, yet right around the corner you can find a tire waiting to be hit by a sledgehammer. Trust me, there's something here for just about everyone.

To further appeal to more than just those who follow the UFC, the compound includes various classes for children and well as a day-care center for any parent that chooses to add a workout into their schedule.

If you are an avid follower of the UFC, every major event will be televised live in the facility as you work out.  I don't know what gym (if any) you go to now, but I highly doubt they offer that particular perk for being a member. Not to get all Billy Mays on you, but the money saved on the pay-per-views practically pays for the membership fees.

Just as Dana White revolutionized the UFC, he looks to do the same for the way you work out.

“We are really excited to host the Grand Opening,” the UFC President stated, who will be kicking off the day by addressing the public at 10:30am. “UFC Gyms are raising the bar in the fitness world and we want people to come out and see it for themselves this weekend.”

Additional locations in Hawaii and Montreal are currently being developed.

The 37,000 square foot facility is located on 1975 Diamond Boulevard in Concord,Calif. More information can be found at UFCGyms.com .
