NBA All-Star Game: By The Fans, For The Fans.

Over the past few days, there has been tons of complaints over how Tracy McGrady and Allen Iverson should not be making the NBA All-Star game, let alone starting. I'm here to ask one question: Who gives a damn?

All-Star games are designed to showcase the best players in the game. The NBA has decided to let their fans vote on this, which is perfectly fine. However, this also means that it is up to the fans to determine who plays. The fans get to decide who they want starting in the all-star game. 

The all-star game does not mean anything to the standings. It is purely for fun. It is a chance for the fans to watch their favourite (note: not best, but favourite) players in the league play with/against each other. No players take it seriously. I mean, all you have to do is look at the scores to realize that no one plays defense.

The final score last year was 146-119, with the west coming out on top. How many of you even remembered that? What is remembered vividly is Nate Robinson dunking over Dwight Howard to take down Superman. Heck, I remember the HORSE game (Durant won) more than the all-star game. 

And yes, I understand that because AI is starting, other, better players have been snubbed, like Ray Allen. However, Ray Allen will still make the all-star game, just not as a starter. He'll probably end up playing more than Iverson anyway.

So why is everyone complaining so much? I think its great that 76ers fans came together to vote AI into the all-star game. That shows great commitment to your team and respect to one of the best point guards of all time. Ditto to the Rockets fans, who just fell short of getting T-Mac into the all-star game.

In conclusion, to all those who have criticized the all-star voting process, stop wasting your time and go complain about something else.
