Boston College's Roller Coaster Season Continues
If you want to talk about an up-and-down season, the Eagles of Boston College might just be your perfect example.
Through the first 19 games on their schedule, Boston College has posted the worst overall record in the ACC at 11-8.
After starting the season at 6-2 overall, which included victories at Providence, at Michigan, and at home against Miami (FL) in an early December ACC test, the Eagles seemed poised to make a run and build up a convincing non-conference resume.

The month of December turned into one to forget for the Eagles, however, dropping games to Harvard, Rhode Island, and Maine, all at home, and mixed in were victories over Bryant, UMass, South Carolina, and N.J.IT.
Boston College entered ACC play at 10-5 and an early 1-0 start within the conference, but ran into a brick wall right away.
Tough road games at Clemson and at Duke made the Eagles look very weak, as if they had nothing to offer the two top 25 programs on the road.
A return to Chestnut Hill and a date with Maryland appeared to be an opportunity for the Eagles to bounce back yet again. However, the Eagles were run out of their building in a 73-57 loss to the Terrapins, dropping their record to 1-3 within the conference and 10-8 overall.
Earlier this week, the Eagles got a big game from both Joe Trapani and Reggie Jackson to pick up a road victory at Miami (FL) and with that, they now prepare for another tough road test at Virginia Tech this Saturday.
At 11-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference it will be interesting to see how Boston College plays out the month of January and their remaining games in February before the ACC Tournament. There is not much that can be taken from their previous games that suggest that they may have a run left in them, but then again that is exactly what their season has been so far.
The Eagles may look like the worst team in the conference on any given night or can make you raise your eyebrows with a stunning upset. Examples in past seasons have proven this.
Opportunities to build momentum on a sub-par season so far are approaching fast for Al Skinner and the Eagles. Clemson will pay a visit to Conte Forum early next week, as well as February scheduled games at home against both Duke and a struggling North Carolina team.
It is obviously easy to get up for a big game against a big team, but when you play in the ACC, every game is a big game. Boston College needs to prove they have the ability to do so. If not, the up-and-down weeks will most likely continue for BC down the stretch.
Boston College and Virginia Tech will meet this Saturday, Jan. 23, with a 1:30 pm tip-off.
