Jeff Fisher: In or Out of Tennessee?
Jeff Fisher has been with the Titans since the last 6 games of the 1994 season. He went 1-5 as the interim head coach that year, and for some reason they let him come back as the full time coach in 1995. Why? In that one win was he really that promising, or was the team so bad that getting one win with them made him a phenomenon in Houston? Maybe, Bud Adams was thinking ahead of his time, far ahead of the times.
In recent years their have been a few teams who are consistent bottom feeders such as the Rams, Lions, and Browns. What do those three teams have in common, besides a low winning percentage? They all go through coaches and staff like it's the best thing to do. Obviously, it is not. It takes any chance at building chemistry between the coach and team and throws it away.

Another downfall is every coach has their own style and plays, and if you switch that every year the players will never be able to get down what they need to do.
The Titans 0-6 start this year had everyone want Fisher out of Tennessee, even with his .553 winning percentage with the team in the last 15 years. He also consistently has had a great rushing attack led by Eddie George and Chris Johnson, along with an amazing rush defense over his current tenure, 5th in the league over the time frame, with under 100 YPG allowed.
The bad in keeping Fisher would be that he may be out of his coaching "prime" if you will. He also would have kept losing after the 59-0 bruising the team took in New England had Mr. Adams not told him to start VY and take Collins out. Who knows where the team would be had the big boss not stepped in. In 15 full seasons Fisher has 4 losing records one if which was his first full year, and it was a 7-9 record. Two of the other three were 5 or less wins in back to back seasons, '04 and '05. Those are fairly recent seasons, unlike his 1995 7-9 year, or his 2001 7-9 year.
It seems like his consistent good years are a thing of the past and Titans fans may be in for some tough luck in the near future if there isn't a change, but then again maybe it is a transition phase from the McNari and George days to the Young and Johnson era. Next year is more than likely going to be uncapped, and as far as I have read the Titans not making the playoffs could be the best thing to have jappened, because they can sign any free agent they want, playoff teams are only allowed to replace players they lose, so maybe in a way the "bad" year was all a big scheme to be able to grab some big names this off-season.
Maybe a Shawn Merriman or resign the Ironman. Only time will tell, but my opinion is maybe Fisher should stay around for another season or two. What do you think?
