Liverpool Star Fernando Torres Has a Pepsi Shocker
From Pele and his viagra to Thierry Henry and the infamous va-va-voom for Renault, there have been some truly awful commercials with footballers down the years.
So to continue that trend, Liverpool and Spain star Fernando Torres kicks off 2010 and the new decade in truly laughable style, telling you to "Refréscate con Pesi" in a new commercial for Pepsi.
In yet another advertising campaign seemingly designed to get football fans laughing instead of buying the product advertised, Torres has pushed himself to the limit with his latest pay-packet and ego booster.

The commercial shows the Liverpool talisman being filmed drinking a can of Pepsi and wrongly saying "Pesi" instead of "Pepsi," before saving a princess and then saying the "Pepsi" bit wrong again, after take 189.
At the end of the commercial, we see the director lose it with Fernando Torres, before the Spaniard goes up to a Pepsi poster and rips out the second "p," saying "con pesi!"
Seems rather pointless, doesn't it? Torres says the name of the product wrong 189 times after saving a beautiful princess from monsters.
So is this what top level footballers are prepared to do to boost their ego and earn some extra cash, look like a mug in a poorly done commercial?
The only point of note in this advert would perhaps be that Torres deliberately pronounces Pepsi wrong to rhyme with Lionel Messi; a subtle and subliminal message for Cristiano Ronaldo to remind him that Messi is the better player.
In any case, us mere mortals would do this sort of thing as well, but while we are just "mere mortals" and not starring in massive, yet hilariously pointless advertising campaigns, let's just laugh at those who are!
You might not see Fernando Torres grace the Premier League and the Anfield pitch for another six weeks, but until then, you'll see him starring for Pepsi, with a commercial so rubbish yet funny it makes Gary Lineker and his commercials with Walkers crisps look like an advertising masterpiece .
