Will the Colts Lay-Off Before the Playoffs Come Back To Haunt Them?

Remember a few weeks ago when no one thought the New York Jets had a chance in hell in making the playoffs? Well, not only did they make the playoffs, but have managed to make it all the way to the AFC Championship Game next week against the Indianapolis Colts; SURPRISE!

While the Colts still claim to this day that resting their players was the right thing to do, that decision may come back to haunt them. Resting Peyton and the boys, allowed the dead in the water New York Jets to back into the playoffs.

Now, the Jets are one game away from making the Super Bowl; can you believe it? ONE game away, from going to Miami for the Super Bowl all because of the generosity of the Colts. But maybe the Colts were smart after all.

If you are the Colts, who would you rather play? The Jets at home with a rookie quarterback and a below average offense, or the San Diego Chargers with Phillip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson who managed to kick you out of the playoffs the last few years?

I’m guessing not the latter. If I’m the Colts, I’d rather take my chances on beating the Jets then the Chargers. You know the Colts will be chomping at the bit to get revenge on the Jets. Although they won’t admit it, you know everyone in Indianapolis was saying YES! When they saw this score: Jets 17, Chargers 14.

So, maybe the Colts were smart like a fox after all by resting their players. We will know for sure if that was the right decision come next Monday morning when we’ll see who’ll represent the AFC in the Super Bowl in a few weeks. Let’s just hope for Colts fans, that a decision that was made a few weeks earlier, won’t come back to bite them in the butt.
