Pierre Garcon, a Man of Valor: When Trouble Erupts, Courage Rises Up
Pierre Garcon is a man of valor. His courage will be displayed this weekend when the Colts-Ravens game is played.
Who will I cheer? Why will I cheer?
After listening to the repetitive accounts of the earthquake in Haiti, I was saddened by the pictures of the devastation and confusion. I will cheer for the people of Haiti and for the extended family of Pierre Garcon and of others whose families are affected by the recent 7.0 earthquake.

Access to the island has been challenged. Equipment and supplies are needed to rescue and recover those who are trapped under debris and fallen structures.
Garcon is a man of valor. When he plays football this weekend, he will play for the protection and recovery of Haiti. With so many relatives in Haiti, it is certain that his heart is heavy.
But let us look at this recent event as a call to purpose, a purpose to play professional football for the deliverance and restoration of others. Just as we have walkathons, we can place purpose in our reason for viewing and cheering our team in professional football. We cheer, this time, with a purpose. We cheer for Haiti.
Now as we cheer our teams this weekend, let's also consider having a moment of silence, and a call to action by giving financial or other types of support to those who are suffering in Haiti.
Someone lost their mother. Someone lost their partner. Others lost their homes, their jobs, their safe place from hurt, harm, or danger.
Garcon is one man of Haitian descent. Let him play this weekend, for the purpose of calling all of us to action, to help Haiti.
One quote says:
"At one point, he (Garcon) tweeted: 'We need the US military as soon as possible n haiti We need the 4 million Haitian that live out side of haiti to Act now, we need da world!'
"Garcon's team has already joined the cause. The Colts announced in a news release Wednesday that they will donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross relief effort and they're asking fans to pitch in, too, by text messaging 'HAITI' to 90999. A $10 donation will go to the Red Cross and the charge will appear on the user's cell phone bill."
