David Cutcliffe is officially out of the running to become the next head coach at the University of Tennessee.

This is not just one of those rumors, it is the truth.

A day ago everyone believed that Cutcliffe would come back home to Knoxville to become the new head coach, stories were now already going up about who was going to become the next head coach at Duke.  Well to many peoples suprise none of that information is true as Cutcliffe announced that he would stay put at Duke University.

"After much thought and consideration, Karen and I reached the decision that Duke is the place for our family," Cutcliffe said in a statement released through the university, adding "we have the best coaching staff in the country, and are convinced that we will continue to build a successful football program that both the Duke and Durham communities will be proud of".

This statement by Cutcliffe this morning shocked me truly.  As I too thought that we would see Cutcliffe wearing Tennessee Orange before next week.  Vols fans may not be happy about his decision but i guarantee you that the Duke faithfull are rejoicing over Cutcliffes final decision.

This is just another setback for the Volunteers in their continuing search to find a new head coach.  This news came after rumors had it that Texas' defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and Air Forces Troy Calhoun had seemed to decline offers to become the next head coach at Tennessee.  So as for now Mike Hamilton and the Volunteers will continue their search to find the next head coach of the Big Orange.  The only question now is who?
