Vikings Vs Cowboys, May The Best Media Circus Win?
I think everyone can agree that the Cowboys and Vikings have been the topics of discussion all season long. Starting with the whole Brett Favre drama from the moment that he was released by the Jets till this day critics cant get enough of Favre, and to top it of now the Vikings will be playing America's team. The Cowboys who had not won a playoff game in 13 years, and finally after winning a game, every one jumps on the Cowboy bandwagon. But the cowboys are in a bit of a groove, winning 4 of their last 6 games. Starting the month of December once again with two consecutive losses(chargers and giants), but bounced back surprising everyone with 4 straight wins. The most surprising one was the upset of the Saints perfect season in New Orleans. Yes, they are playing with high level of confidence on both sides of the ball, but they lost to the Giants who r struggling mightily, and the Chargers who are probably just as hot as the Cowboys. Also the last three teams they played were the redskins who failed to score a point against them, and the eagles twice who are injury plagued. This doesn't take any credit away from the Cowboys who have capitalized on their opponents weakness, struggles and helped themselves in gaining some confidence. Now they go to to Minnesota to face Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, and the Vikings, who had been struggling towards the end of the season a bit with some player coach scuffles, but seem to be back on track. Thou the last two opponents they played were not all that great either, they still showed some life, after a disastrous first half against the Bears, Favre and the Vikings managed to find some kind of motivation to play better in the second half, and in their last game. Favre ended the last two games 51-71 637 yards 6 touchdown passes. This game is going to come down to which team is going to be consistent, and productive with their run game. Adrian Peterson lead the running backs with the most touchdowns, but his production decreased from last year(1383 yards). Keep in mind, this means he is still fresh enough to explode in the playoffs, then add Chester Taylor who is one of the best third down backs in the league constantly making plays for the Vikings. The Cowboys have a Three headed monster, with Choice running hard, Felix Jones running like his shoes are on fire, and Barber who was a bit banged up last game, but seems like he will be good to go come Sunday. Here is something to keep in mind, the Cowboys have not allowed a 100 yard rusher all season, and Peterson has not had a 100 yard rushing game since they last played the lions(7 weeks), so something has to give. Their is two match ups I'm going to keep my eye on one is Percy Harvin vs Orlando Scandrick, if the Vikings are going to win they are going to need to use Harvin effectively, and often. Looking at the Cowboys a Match up that is going to be key is DeMarcus Ware vs Bryant McKinnie. The Cowboys need to bring pressure and lots of it, if they want to slow down Brett Favre and this high powered offense. Mckinnie has struggles a bit this year, but lets see what the Vikings do to help him through out the course of the game.
Final verdict: Vikings stay undefeated at home and win this game 28-17 Favre and Peterson have two touchdowns a piece.
