According to eyewitness accounts from Swiperboy (aka Renaldo Woolridge, UT Basketball player), there was a mini-riot outside the Tennessee football complex tonight as Lane Kiffin wimped out of his job as Vols head coach.
According to Woolridge there were riots, tear gas, SWAT, fire trucks, and mobs of people shouting "F*** You, Kiffin" at the top of their lungs.
No wonder the young coach looked like he was scared to death during his impromptu press conference/coward statement.
Swiperboy tweeted, "WOW he [Kiffin] just left they chased his car down the street!"
The rapper/basketball player went on to say, "Man, people are talkin' about goin' to his crib!? They ODn right now."
If there's one thing Kiffin should have learned from this, it's do not tick off the Tennessee faithful. Of course he wont have to worry about that anymore, now will he?
Wes Rucker of the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that DE Ben Martin said he and three other players walked out of the room before Kiffin was finished.
"I just couldn't sit through it," Martin said.
LaMarcus Thompson also told the reporter, "Three coaches in three years? Unbelievable man. Unbelievable."
Maybe Kiffin was shaking and looking like a mental patient during that brief press conference because he had just stared down 50 football players and admitted to being a coward.
Whatever Kiffin gets from here on out, he deserves. Do not forget, he was 5-15 with the Raiders and 7-6 with Tennessee.
That tells me two things. He doesn't stick around long and he's not very successful.
Oh yeah, and he gets nervous when fans riot. Might want to get used to that, Lane.
