Hurry Up and Wait: The Al Davis Time Zone
You have to admit, Al Davis enjoys being the center of attention.
From Twitters to reporters to even his own people, Al enjoys keeping people guessing.
While most of the free world was focusing on a small article showing the pluses and minuses of keeping or firing Tom Cable, this one article spawned numerous clones, all centered at Al Davis firing Tom Cable on Monday.

What made it golden was Tom Cable had mentioned a meeting "next week."
By about 4PM, this end that everyone was betting on never happened, and slowly a few articles trickled out, saying that Al Davis does things on his own schedule and it appeared he was enjoying the effect in keeping everyone waiting.
Sadistic? Evil? Calculating?
Maybe. Maybe he's contemplating the ideas floated of having Tom move back to offensive coordinator. Maybe he's looking at the possibility of bringing in Marc Trestman, who just won the Grey Cup in Canada. Or even Jim Fassel, who just completed the first season of the UFL as champions.
Maybe he'll bring in someone out of left field from the Athletics, nobody knows.
But Al Davis does have his advantages. He could try another coach to see if JaMarcus Russell is truly broken, keep Cable and ship Russell out admitting he's broken, or he can pull the lever and recycle everyone, like 2006, when Art Shell had a truly hideous season.
Some are hoping for a faster end to the season than this. Odds are good Al's also waiting to see if anyone emerges from the playoffs as a good option as well, as he watches Tom sweat, waiting to see if he's on for another year, or will join a long line of "failed" coaches.
After all, news is in that Lane Kiffin is going to be coaching at USC...ain't that a kick?
