A Jersey Dilemma: Tyler Myers or Ryan Miller?
I recently made The Decision.
It's the one every sportsfan makes at some point in their lifetime. I decided to buy a new Buffalo Sabres jersey. I have been wanting to for a few months now, but I finally think the time is right. I only have one problem.
I can't decide which player's name to put on the back.

Non-serious fans may laugh and say "What does it matter?"
Us die-hards know it matters quite a bit. Who you put on your jersey says a lot about you. Do you go with the most popular player and risk being thought a bandwagoner? Or do you put a more obscure name on to show your originality and a constant need to explain just who Nathan Gerbe is.
I've decided to try to find a happy medium.
After a few weeks of fruitless wandering, I finally sat down and crunched the numbers. I've narrowed it down to two choices, which you might have guessed if you read the headline. I guess I'm just not good at suspense.
So it's down to breakout rookie defenseman Tyler Myers and star goaltender Ryan Miller.
The reasons for choosing either one of these names are both pragmatic and not. Given that Myers is only a rookie, and that Miller recently signed a contract extension both of these guys should be solid long-termers.
The question comes down to one of personal preference, ultimately. Miller is a great goaltender, and I would be proud to wear his jersey to the arena, or wherever I happen to be watching the game. But on the other hand, Myers has captured the excitement of hockey fans in this city like few rookies have. He's really made the decision very difficult.
Maybe I'll just buy two.
