The Memphis Grizzlies Are No Joke!!!!

After a 1-8 start to the season if I told you that the Memphis Grizzlies would have a record by January how many of you would have believed me???

If I said that Zach Randolph would be the best offseason acquisition and would lead his team to victory how many of you would have believed me???

It's ok I'll wait.

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the youngest and hottest teams this season. They are making all of the sports commentators eat alot of the crap that they had given this team before the season even began. Even during the win streaks that they had I myself thought that the Grizzlies would maybe end up 41-41 or 42-40 which are still huge improvements over the past seasons when we've averaged about 22 wins a season.

But, then something in my brained snapped. After they opened a can of whup-ass on the Suns in Phoenix last week and held on to beat the Portland Trailblazers in Portland last night I began to realize that this team has a chance to become the Cinderella story of the NBA if they aren't already.

Now Memphis Grizzlies fans can actually be optimistic about something for once. We have two of the best players under the age of 24 in Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo. We finally have a post presence in Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. And, Mike Conley has been competent. (I'm still in favor of moving OJ to the point.)

In terms of offense there are only a few teams that can mess with the firepower of the Grizzlies. Mike Conley has shown offensive advancement this season. OJ Mayo started out the season slow but has been playing his butt off recently and came up big against the Trailblazers last night in the clutch. He has also made many sacrifices for the good of the team whether it is giving the ball to another teammate who has a better shot. Or letting someone else takeover games while he compliments them. (It looks like he is going to become the great player I always knew he would be.) Rudy Gay is one of the most athletic players in the league. His shooting stroke has improved and so has his defense. He has cooled off a bit lately but look for him to improve. Zach Randolph has been the PF that the Grizzlies have needed since we dealt Pau. His play has been phenomenal and he has been leading the Memphis young guns (OJ and Rudy) without any problems and has been a great guy on and off of the court. He has also become the enforcer that the Grizzlies have needed. No more cheap fouls that could nearly injure any of our players Zach has put an end to that mess. Marc Gasol has been playing well too. He as well as Zach Randolph have been double double machines.

The Grizzlies are now currently 17-16 the sad part is that they are currently 10th in the Western Conference. And the play in what is arguably the toughest division in the NBA the Southwest. The Southwest consists of team such as New Orleans, San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas. And, just think if they were in the Eastern Conference they would be a 5th or 6th seed.

But, anyway to my fellow Memphis Grizzlies fans I think that right now more than ever this is a great time to be a Grizzlies fan. We have a future star combo guard in OJ Mayo. A future All-Star in Rudy Gay and neither of them have even begun to realize the enourmous potential they have. We have a franchise center in Marc Gasol. And, veteran leadership in Zach Randolph. Now is our time.
