Why This Is a Great Time to Be a Fan of TNA and WWE

The Doctor Chris MuellerJan 6, 2010

Monday night saw the beginning of a new era in TNA, and maybe even professional wrestling as a whole.

Since Monday, every wrestling site, and plenty of sites that normally don't report on wrestling, have been a buzz with chatter about WWE and TNA.

Yesterday saw so much traffic on BR the site started running slower for the first time I have seen.  More people are interested in checking out what they once thought was dumb and even more people are coming back to wrestling after having left.

TNA had a huge night with their first Monday version of iMPACT .  They were chock full of all kinds of guest stars and new additions to their roster.

Seeing guys like Jeff Hardy, Orlando Jordan, Shannon Moore, and with the possibility of RVD coming in soon, TNA is on the verge of something great.

After seeing the matches between AJ and Kurt as well as Pope and Wolfe, TNA has shown they have the talent to put on the best product.

WWE has shown in the past that they can come out of nowhere and surprise you with a match of the year out of two guys who would normally never be considered.

WWE finally saw the return of Bret Hart, a man who has been draped in controversy since leaving the company after Survivor Series in 1997.  Twelve years is a long time, and it appears The Hitman is finally ready to move on.

Bret has signed on for four months, through Mania, so we could see a very personal storyline between him and Vince develop after Vince kicked Bret Monday night.

We also saw Bret bury the hatchet with HBK.  Whether this was all for show or if the two are on good terms is still yet to really be known, but having Bret back is good enough for me.

The IWC has been full of rumors and news for the past few weeks more than ever and it is a good sign that wrestling may be coming back into the mainstream the way it was during the Monday night wars.

Now, I am not saying we will see a new Monday night War, in fact, TNA is not even concrete on ever moving to Mondays for more than a few specials a year, but with the signing of Hogan, it makes TNA the hot place to be right now.

TNA has been praised for featuring young guys who are hungry for fame, as well as bringing in guys who still have it in them to fight but don't get the chance in WWE.  TNA has also been criticized for showcasing too many old guys in recent years.

From Nash to Team 3D, people have been complaining about the veterans running the place.  Which is fine, people can have their opinions.

I for one am just happy to see a new energy coming into the world of pro wrestling and I know that many other people out there feel the same way.

We may never return to the glory of the '80s when wrestlers were larger than life, or the '90s when the Attitude era began, but we could see something entirely new starting to form.  And "New" is never a bad thing.
