Who will really run the Redskins?
With Mike Shanahan hired as executive vice president and head coach and Bruce Allen hired last month as general manager, it appears owner Dan Snyder, who has served as the team's de facto head of personnel when Joe Gibbs wasn't around, has taken several steps back, allowing trained professionals to run his team. It appears that way. But how will it actually work? Will Snyder, who fired Marty Schottenheimer because he said he wasn't having any fun with Marty making all the football decisions, really put his team in the hands of someone else?
ESPN NFL insider Adam Shefter says the football guys are in charge now, speaking earlier this morning on 980 AM radio: "You know, it's their show. That's it. They're taking over. They're the men in charge right now." Others are not so sure. A anonymous NFL source told John Keim not to Dan Snyder to change his spots:

"Usually people don't change," the source said. "Dan has learned some things, but there's not much difference between the guy now and the guy from 10 years ago."
Columnist Rick Snider isn't buying it either:
Snyder thinks he knows football...It's laughable to think Snyder will greatly change. He doesn't want to and there's no one to make him. Well, that's not completely true. The Burgundy Revolution is watching and they need convincing to renew season tickets. Thus, Snyder has to least act less involved. Given Allen and Mike Shanahan are rather secretive people, no one will push for Snyder to throttle down his involvement. At least, not right away.
