I wrote an article back before Christmas speculating about Limas Sweed's reason for leaving the Steelers this year. For those who read it (OK the two of you can put your hands down), I thought that frustration may have played a role. I speculated that perhaps depression or something darker was at play. In any event it appeared that Limas had quit on the team.

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers have been pretty mum on the subject. All they have said is that it was non-football related.  Pretty vague, huh? Sometimes when you leave people to interpret silence, their minds can run away with themselves. That may be the case with Limas Sweed.

Well the article did get some reads and lots of people left comments. I received a comment today from one fellow named Sierra Morgan. He was pretty upset that I was talking about things I didn't know about. He said the Steelers did not handle this well. He also hinted that there was something else going on with Limas Sweed.

My initial reaction was to tell Sierra that he was a little rude in his comment and who gave him the right. Instead I thought maybe he does have some information. I asked him to enlighten me.

Sierra claims to be Limas Sweed's cousin. I kid you not, the people you meet on the Bleacher Report! He says that Limas is really sick. They just found out that it may be related to an insect bite! I am thinking like Lyme's Disease or something.

In any event he says Limas is not out of the weeds yet, but they are hoping it is not too serious. There is no mental condition or anything like that at play here.  He further says Limas is a hard worker and loves football.

I don't doubt that for a minute. You don't get to where Sweed is without hard work and a love for the game. Of course having his physical gifts don't hurt either! Anyway, Sierra was upset with all of the people dissing his cousin and was himself frustrated.

Morgan also says that Coach Tomlin and the Steelers by not giving out info threw Limas Sweed's reputation under the bus for no good reason. He is hoping Limas and the Steelers straighten this out soon.

I don't know if Sierra Morgan is Limas Sweed's cousin for sure. I am just reporting this. If it is true, I don't know for how long Sweed was effected by this. Could this be the reason for his play this year?

In any event, I hope Limas makes a full recovery. I hope he comes to camp next year ready to show the world why he was so highly touted out of Texas. A healthy, confident Limas Sweed would give the Steelers a foursome of wide receivers that would be the envy of the league!
